Meet Your Mentor
Hey, I’m Gianna Ross: fashion designer, educator, and founder of Sew Dope Studios.
Originally from New Jersey and now based in Charlotte, I created Sew Dope Studios to make sewing and fashion education more accessible to anyone with the desire to create. My journey began long before I started teaching professionally. As the designer and founder of Street Serenade, I’ve spent years using fashion as a form of storytelling, while also partnering with schools, nonprofits, and community organizations to introduce young people and adults to sewing.
Watching someone go from saying ‘I’ve never touched a sewing machine before’ to confidently creating something with their own hands is my favorite part of teaching. That’s what Sew Dope Studios is all about.
At Sew Dope Studios, my goal isn’t just to teach techniques, it’s to help students build confidence, think creatively, and develop skills they can carry long after class ends. Whether you’re learning to thread your first sewing machine, alter your favorite pair of jeans, or create garments from scratch, every lesson is personalized to meet you where you are.
